Safety & Precautions

Please read and follow the safety precautions. Keep in mind you are the most important safety device in your shop. Is a process, procedure or work method seems unsafe or makes you uncomfortable in any way than don't do it.

All tools can be dangerous. Power tools are generally more dangerous than unpowered tools. Proper use and maintenance is advised to help extend the life your equipment

Do not run SAND-FLEE® Sanding Mops over 3,500 RPM: The mop may disintegrate if run over rated speed.

Be alert: Do not use power tools when tired, under the influence of alcohol, medication, drugs or at any time judgement or reflexes may be impaired.

Ground tools: Your power tool may be equipped with a motor with an approved 3-conductor line cord having a 3-prong 115V grounding type plug. If present the ground should not be removed, bent, or otherwise defeated. The machine should only be plugged into a proper 115 grounding outlet.

Avoid electric shock: Do not use the machine if the electrical cord is frayed or damaged. Do not use any electric tool in damp or wet conditions. Do not use any electric tool in the rain.

Disconnect tool: When not in use, tool should be unplugged and stored in a dry place.

Use the tool's protective guards and features: Do not remove or defeat the guards and protections which are part of your tool.

Do Not Force Mop: The SAND-FLEE® Mops are designed for fingertip control and light pressure on the work piece. Heavy pressure will make the sanding difficult and inconsistent. In general the lighter the pressure the better your experience will be.

Dress properly: Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Loose clothing, jewelry and draw strings can be caught in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.

Wear Safety protection: Wear safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes and a mask or appropriate respiratory protection. If the tool is loud wear ear protection.

Direction of feed: Feed the material into the edge of the mop on the side rotating away from you. The mop typically rotates clockwise so this is usually the left side of the mop (when mounted in a drill press) or bottom (when mounted horizontally).

Keep hands and body parts away from moving parts (mop, drum or shafts): Contact with mop or drum may cause abrasions.

Do not overreach: Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

Keep work area clean: Cluttered work areas invite injuries.

Keep visitors away: All visitors should be kept at a safe distance from the work area.

Be aware of debris path:
The mop ejects debris. Be aware of the debris path and keep people and breakable items out of the way.

Comply with applicable standards and regulations: These include (but are not limited to) OSHA, FEPA and the regulations or recommendations of similar governmental agencies and publications like the European Standard EN 13743 having jurisdiction over your location.
